Srinagar, Jul 5 (UNI) Concerned over the reports about illegal constructions and filling of land in the famed Dal Lake during recent strike for about ten days, a spokesman of the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) said these would be demolished.
An official spokesman today said the Vice Chairman, LAWDA alongwith the team of officers visited Dal-Nigeen lake yesterday and found that five tin shanties have been erected and one construction at ''Anchari Mohalla' was going on.
He said on-the-spot directions were given to the Enforcement Officer (DSP) to demolish all the illegal structures immediately which have come up during the ''Hartal'' period. People in the valley have observed spontaenous strike for about ten days in protest against the diversion of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB). However the land diversion order was later cancelled.
The spokesman said the Enforcement Officer of this Authority started the demolition operation in the peripheral areas as a result of which all the structures were pulled down.
