Farmers demand Rs One Cr per acre
Mysore, July 5 (UNI) Farmers today demanded Rs One Crore per acre of land acquired from them for upgrading the Mandkali airport on the outskirts of the city.
Participating at a 'Public Hearing' conducted by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) here, nearly 200 farmers, including 20 women, of Marase village urged the authorities to pay compensation of Rs One crore per acre and provide job to atleast one member of the family whose land would be acquired.
The Officials present assured that the compensation would be fixed via media taking into consideration the prevailing market rate and property guidance value.
A township would be built for 120 families on a portion of the land acquired for the upgradation, District Headquarters Assistant Jayanna said during the Hearing.
Airport Authority of India (AAI) had asked for 300 acre of land for upgradation of the Mandkali airport to facilitate operation of biger aircraft.
