In an interview with a private news channel, senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu, also the coordinator of the party's poll campaign, said some of the clauses of the India-US civilian nuclear cooperation agreement were not in national interest. ''Definitely, these are anti-national", Mr Naidu said, adding accepting the provisions of the Hyde Act would amount to surrendering before the US. Calling himself a 'Hanuman', Mr Naidu said he would seek 'sanjeevini' in the polls to make his 'Ram' -- L K Advani, the next prime minister.

Asked about his party's stand if the NDA was elected to power and the Prime minister were to sign the deal, Mr Naidu said, ''Then, we will ''renegotiate. If that is not possible for any reason, we will cancel it''.

Answering questions on the BJP's strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections, Mr Naidu indicated that the party would ask its senior leaders to enter the fray. ''We are thinking ... we tried this in Gujarat and Karnataka and got good results.

All important leaders entering the fray will make a good impact beyond their constituencies,'' he said.

About his own future, Mr Naidu, who has announced not to contest any elections in future, said the core group of the party would consider the issue on the July 11 meeting.

He also ruled out any change in the leadership in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh where the party is facing Assembly elections.

About Delhi assembly elections, Mr Naidu said, ''We will let you know our leader to counter Delhi Chief Minister at the right time''.

Rejecting the insinuations painting him as a ''drawing- room strategist'', Mr Naidu said no political party was an untouchable and the BJP would attempt to bring back all parties which had deserted the NDA.

The door of the NDA would be open to parties headed by Om Prakash Chautala in Haryana, Chandrababu Naidu or 'Mega Telugu Star Chiranjeevi's proposed party in Andhra Pradesh and some of the Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu.

''It all depends on the assessment of our local leaders,'' he said.

In Andhra Pradesh, the party would favour the creation of a Telangana state.
