Bhuma couple quit TDP, may join Chiranjeevi's party
Kurnool, July 5: Former MP Bhuma Nagi Reddy and his wife and party General Secretary Sobha Nagi Reddy resigned from the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) today.
The two were planning to join the party to be floated by matinee idol Chiranjeevi shortly, sources close to the couple said.
The couple announced their decsion to quit the party after holding a series of meetings with their supporters here and in Allagadda and Nandyal.
Ruling out joining the Congress, he said they would shortly decide their next course of action.
Both faxed their letters of resignation to NTR Trust Bhavan, the party headquarters, as party President N Chandrababu Naidu was in East Godavari district as part of his 150-day ''Meekosam Yatra'', aimed at strengthening the party in the state.
Their resignation comes close in the wake of former minister T Devender Goud and E Peddi Reddy quitting the party wth Goud planning to launch his own outfit and espouse the cause of the Telangana state.
The TDP was plunged into turmoil soon after the recent byelections with pro-Telangana leaders and pro-united Andhra Pradesh leaders crossing swords wth each other, ignoring Mr Naidu's appeal not to air their views on the vexed Telangana issue in public.
