Rajkot, Jul 5 (UNI) As many as 251 medicinal plants will be set up at 'Aushadh Van' (medicinal plant garden) in Kalavad road area here, MP Dr Vallabhbhai Kathiriya said today.
Addressing mediapersons here, Dr Kathiriya, said the Forest Department of Rajkot will set up medicinal plants during this monsoon under MP's Grant of Rs 10 lakh.
Besides, medicinal plants, the forest department would also set up library at Aushadh Van, which will provided useful information related to medicinal plants to the readers at no cost, Deputy Conservator of Forest G V Vadi said.
Under the plantation drive, 'revolving fund' should be raised, under which, environmentalist or tree lover can avail saplings at the token cost of Rs 15 from 11 nurseries of forest departments of Rajkot district. Special account would also be set up for the revolving fund, which would continue the process in coming years too, Dr Kathiriya said.
Under the extensive tree-plantation drive, pamphlets should be distributed door to door to encourage people, create awareness and join the plantations drive in a big way, he said.
The forest departments have grown 58,000 saplings upto 4 to 5 feet of various 31 species this season that would be available for the customers at the forest department nurseries at nominal charges, Dr Kathiriya said.
