BSF detaines youth with fake currency
Agartala, Jul 4: The BSF has detained a youth for possessing fake Indian currencies worth Rs 10,000 in denomination of Rs 500 notes in Tripura.
Tashib Ali (20) of East Irani village of north Tripura was held yesterday near Indo-Bangladesh border, a BSF official said today.
As many as 34 persons were arrested while more than Rs 5 crore fake Indian currencies were sized from them in past six months, said a policeman.
A separate report said a Reang girl, who was kidnapped by the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) six months ago, has fled from her captors on Wednesday.
The 18-year-old girl fled from Tangalkandi in Sajek range of Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh along with five NLFT militants, who surrendered to police in remote Aananda Bazar area under Kanchanpur subdivision of north Tripura, police said.
