Triangle: Teacher gets life imprisonment for murdering student
New Delhi, Jul 4 (UNI) A city court here today sentenced a teacher to life imprisonment for the murder of one of his students on September 2, 2001 over a love triangle.
Ravi Kumar Ghai, who was teaching in a coaching institute at west Patel Nagar, had thrown one of the girl student from the roof of the institute after he found love letters from another person in her possesion.
The 15-year-old later died in a hospital. The incident was, however, witnessed by a 12-year-old from the adjoining house.
Sentencing Ghai, who is also a qualified Chartered Accountant to life imprisonment, Additional Sessions Judge D K Sharma said,''Ghai has disgraced teacher-student relationship.'' The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Ghai.
During the trial, Ghai, however, told the court that the girl had committed suicide.
Prosecution said there was a love triangle in the case as the girl was having an affair with Ghai and when he found the letters of some other person from her possesion, he threw her from the roof of the institute.
