Bodh Gaya, Jul 4 (UNI) The RJD today exhorted all secular forces of the country to contest the Lok Sabha election unitedly to defeat the BJP and other communal forces in the country.
In a political resolution, passed in its national executive committee here, the RJD said the communal forces were acting against the unity and integrity of the country and the party would not allow their bid to succeed.
'' All secular forces in the country should join hands to defeat the BJP in Lok Sabha election, '' the resolution said and added the party would strive to increase its number of MPs in next Lok Sabha poll.
The RJD also decided to keep the 'lantern' as its symbol after getting the recognition by the Election Commission as the national political party.
The party maintained that 'Lantern' symbol was associated with the village life of the country and it would continue to keep its symbol at national level.
The party favoured reservation for other backward classes, scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in the proposed reservation Bill for women in the Lok Sabha.
It also welcomed the decision of the UPA government to provide 27 per cent reservation to students of the Other Backward Classes(OBC) in IITs and IIMs.
In a resolution passed on foreign affairs, the party advocated for cordial relation with the neighbouriuing countries, including Pakistan and Bangladesh.
