Register criminal case against VHP-BJP: Jamuna
Bhopal, Jul 4 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Jamuna Devi today held the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responsible for yesterday's widespread violence that claimed five lives during 'Bharat Bandh' in the state and demanded to register a criminal case against both the parties.
In a statement here, the Congress leader said Amarnath Yatra was going on peacefully but Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had violated the constitutional responsibility to protect the people by abetting violence in the state. She apprehended that the BJP could go to any extent including fanning communal violence to retain power.
Ms Devi said the BJP had attracted disqualification under the Representation of the People Act by calling the bandh on religious issues.
She also demanded compensation of Rs five lakh each and government jobs to the next of kin of those killed in yesterday's communal violence in Indore.
