Gaya to be developed as Model Railway Station:Lalu

Gaya, Jul 4(UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today announced that Gaya would be developed as a model railway station soon in view of its historical and international importance.

Addressing a function organised to mark the inauguration of ticket reservation facility at Gaya railway station, Mr Prasad said the city was the place where Lord Buddha achieved enlightenment and it was also associated with several incidents relating to the life of Lord Vishnu.

''Gaya, being an important tourist spot in Bihar, a large number of people from various parts of the country and outside visit it and they face immense hardship in booking reservation,'' Mr Prasad said adding that a separate counter had been opened at Gaya Railway station to facilitate their smooth journey.

Several new trains would be introduced for Gaya from various parts of the country to cater to the needs of those wishing to visit Gaya and Bodh Gaya.
