5 more bodies of Greyhound police retrieved

Hyderabad, Jul 4: Five more bodies of Greyhound police personnel were retrieved from the launch that sank in an ambush by Maoists in Sileru reservoir near Balimela of Malkangiri District in Andhra-Orissa border on June 29.

Police identifed one body as Durga Prasad, Greyhound Inspector, and the remaining bodies were yet to be identifed. The bodies were airlifted to King George Hospital at Visakhapatnam for post mortem.

Visakhapatnam Superintendent of Police, A Sabharwal said the bodies of the deceased would be sent to their native places after post mortem. The search was going on in full swing to retrieve the remaining bodies, he added.

The marine commandos and the Eastern Naval Command divers were vigorously taking part in the search operations in the reservoir for the sixth day today to retrieve the boat and the bodies trapped in it.

A search was also on in the surrounding forest areas of the reservoir by a large team of CRPF and Greyhound police for the missing men.
