Deteriorating political scenario dangerous to democracy: Sukhdev

Jaunpur, Jul 4 (UNI) Expessing concern over the present political scenario, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly speaker Sukhdev Rajbhar said entry of muscleman and criminals in politics is posing danger to democracy.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Rajbhar today said honest and good people were required in politics, however, present scenario was totally contrary as criminals and mafias were strengthning their position in politics.

An all India Assembly Speakers Conference would be called in September, where debate would be organised on the topic ''declining morals and principles in politics.'' Besides, defining code of conduct for the Assembly members, he apprised.

Maintaining that their was no need of musclemen, criminals and influential richies in politics, he said Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee also holds the same opinion.

He further stressed that democratic setup would get a boost with the entry of honest, committed and people with clean image in politics.
