Curfew remain in force in 4 police station limits in Indore
Indore, Jul 4 (UNI) Tension prevailed in this city where curfew was imposed in four police station limits and prohibitory orders clamped in the whole city yesterday, following violent clashes that claimed four lives and injured 24 people, including 10 policemen.
Collector Rajesh Srivastava said the situation was tense, but under control. Shops and business establishments in other areas remained open and transport was normal. However, city bus service was off the road, while schools and colleges remained closed.
Curfew was clamped in sensitive Pandrinath, Chhatripura, Khajrana and Malharganj police station limits yesterday even as personnel opened fire and used other forms of force to control the mob involved in stone-pelting and arson during the 'bandh'.
Inspector General of Police Anil Kumar said so far, 100 people had been arrested.
Additional police force had been deployed in sensitive areas.
Security arrangements had been made in view of Friday 'namaz'.
Police were exercising caution in view of last rites of the four deceased.
