Central officials review security measure in Nagaland
Kohima, Jul 4 (UNI) A high-level meeting held here reviewed the present security scenario of the state in view of the unabated inter-factional clashes among the underground outfits.
The meeting was convened here yesterday by the Special Secretary (Internal Security) M L Kumawat, Ministry of Home Affairs, who is also the Chairman of Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG with NSCN-IM) and Cease Fire Supervisory Board (CFSB) with NSCN-K).
The meeting was held at the State Police Headquarters, in presence of Joint Secretary, in-charge of Northeast, Naveen Verma, Nagaland Chief Secretary Lalhuma, state DGP J Changkija, IG of Assam Rifles Maj Gen J P Nehra, and DIG of CRPF Ramalingam.
Joint Director of SIB S S Sidhu and IGP (Int) M V Chakhesang were also present in the meeting.
Mr Kumawat deliberated upon the prevailing law and order situation in the state arising out of inter-factional clashes and informed about the approval of the new designated camp to GPRN/NSCN (K) under the Niuland Sub-Division of Dimapur district.
He informed that the NSCN (K) has been directed to occupy the new designated camp, while the Dimapur district administration and security forces would be physically inspecting the area along with the leaders of NSCN (K) in order to demarcate the size of the camp.
The Central officials also met Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio yesterday and discussed the situation, sources said.
