Archaka conference held in Kuppam

Chittoor, July 4 (UNI) An Archaka Conference was held under the auspices of Pancharatra Agama Vidya Vivardhini Sabha (PAVVS) at Prasanna Varadaraja Swamy temple at Lakshmipuram in Kuppam of Chittoor district today.

Many scholars have participated in the deliberations. The sabha conducts such meetings annually and this was the 73rd meeting, a release said.

The Prasanna Varadaraja Swamy temple has a unique place in training Archakas belonging to the Pancharatra Agama Sect.

Many Archakas, who have been trained by the Sabha, are performing 'archakatvam' in many nooks and corners of the Globe. An Archaka Gonida Bhattar had come all the way from Atlanta US to participate in the meeting.

The Archakas have not left their main service and continue to be traditionally attached to this 'Archakatvam' service. The local leaders of Lakshmipuram along with the Sarpanch also participated in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr M V Soundararajan, Convener, Temples Protection Movement, said the members of the PAVVS want an Agama Patasala in Lakshmipuram to continue the training of young Archakas unhindered.

He assured the gathering that he would take up the matter with the Commissioner of Endowments to set up such an Agama School in Rayalaseema area with the funds from Archaka Welfare Fund.

The meeting was well organised with all the sections of devotees participating in the Kalyanotsavam, Sudarshana Homam at the Temple, the release added.
