VHP bandh call turns violent in AP, evokes poor response
Hyderebad, Jul 3 (UNI) Activists of VHP, Bajarang Dal and BJP today damaged 16 state-owned Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) buses and deflated the tyres of five, even as the bandh called by them evoked poor response in the state, including the capital city.
The agitators were taken into custoday when they also organised a 'rail roko' stir at Uppuguda Railway Station (South Zone) and detainined a train for more than one hour.
In pursuance to the above call, the BJP, Bajrang Dal and VHP activists started moving in the twin cities in groups to organise a Bandh.
While moving in their respective areas, the police noticed the agitators moving in groups and forcibly closed down business establishments.
Most of the educational institutions also remained closed but the state government institutions functioned normally and normal life was not affected.
In some districts, bus services were suspended but educational institutions remained closed.
