Scholarship for minority community students
Chandigarh, Jul 3 (UNI) The Haryana government has implemented a new scheme of post-matric scholarship for students belonging to minority community to enable them to pursue higher education from class XI to Ph D.
Stating this today, Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Kartar Devi said 30 per cent of these scholarships would be earmarked for girl students.
She said in case girl students are available then the scholarships earmarked for them would be awarded to eligible boy students.
She made it clear that scholarships would not be given to more than two students in a family.
The scheme, she said, aimed at giving scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community.
She said the state government had invited applications from students belonging to minority communities who were pursuing higher education from Class XI up to Ph D.
These included technical or vocational courses of Industrial Training Institutes or Industrial Training Centres-affiliated to the National Council for Vocational Training-in government schools, colleges, institutes or those recognised by appropriate authority for post-matric scholarship to be awarded by the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs.
