Phagwara, Jul 3: A 60-year-old woman was killed while 26 others, including 19 women, sustained critical injuries when a private mini bus they were travelling in rammed into a stationery truck on national highways near Chachoki village today.
The Phagwara bound bus was coming from Zandiala and apparently due to over speed the bus driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed the bus into the truck. After the accident, the bus driver immediately managed to escape from the spot.
In the mishap, a woman passenger identified as Devu of nearby Ghurrka village died on the spot while other 26 passengers who were critically injured were rushed to different hospitals by the nearby residents. The condition of one of the patient admitted in Gandhi Hospital is stated to be critical.
