Morgan Freeman denies divorce reports

Washington, July 3 : American actor Morgan Freeman has denied reports that he and his wife of 24 years are contemplating divorce.

The actor expressed surprise and puzzlement over reports that he and his wife Myrna, who share a home in rural Mississippi, have consulted a divorce lawyer.

The rumours that Freeman, 71, and his wife are divorcing came about after reports alleging that the actor was unfaithful.

The reports of his breaking-up with his wife left Freeman shocked, especially after he was asked about his marital status at an event last week (26Jun08).

"I don't know anything about that (filing for divorce)," Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

When a spokesperson for the Wanted star was asked for a comment, the reply was that there was none to make.

"We officially have no comment," the spokesperson said.
