New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) A decision on giving party posts and positions to supporters of former Kerala Chief Minister K Karuanakaran, who returned to the Congress Party a few months ago, will be taken by the AICC without further delay, Party sources said.
Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Ramesh Chennithala today held discussions with Congress President Sonia Gandhi in this regard.
The Kerala leaders earlier held discussions with AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala Mohsina Kidwai.
Mr Chennithala told mediapersons after the meeting that the decision on giving berths to the Karunakaran supporters would be taken by the AICC and not by the KPCC. However, the exercise would be completed without creating much problem to the existing office bearers.
Mr Chandy and Mr Chennithala were summoned by Ms Gandhi in the light of Mr Karunakaran complaining to Ms Gandhi about the delay in accommodating his men in party posts.
Mr Karunakaran was inducted into the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest policy making body of the Congress Party, four months ago after he returned to the party fold after a four-year-long gap when he floated a political outfit of his own.
When Mr Karunakaran returned to the party six months ago, many of his supporters also followed suit. However, his son and former KPCC Chief K Muralidharan refused follow Mr Karunakaran's footsteps.
