London, July 3 : She might be having hundreds of expensive red carpet outfits, but Hollywood legend Dame Helen Mirren still loves second-hand shops.
The 62-year-old actress' love for bargain dresses had also once landed her the 'best-dressed actress' award at a prestigious award ceremony, where she was forced to wear a 7.40-pound dress after the zip of her expensive designer Grecian gown broke at the eleventh hour.
"I love second-hand shops," the Daily Express quoted Mirren, as saying.
"Or I make my own clothes because I've never found the kinds of things I liked. My mother taught me how to work a sleeve," she added.
The Queen star also revealed that she knows how to make a placket, which is a hidden opening in a garment, usually created to disguise a zip.
Meanwhile, Mirren recently got an opportunity to meet the Queen at the Royal Ascot.
"Dame Helen visited following the Gold Cup trophy ceremony, which the Queen always presents," The Sun quoted an Ascot source, as saying.
