New Delhi, Jul 3: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa called on President Pratibha Patil seeking her intervention for stepping up supply of fertilisers to farmers of Karnataka and provide Classical Language status to Kannada.
The Chief Minister, who is on an official visit, called on the President to submit a memorandum listing out five issues on which an all-party delegation had come to meet the Prime Minister and other leaders at the Centre on Thursday, July 2. He is expected to meet BJP President Rajnath Singh. The Chief Minister also directed the Resident Commissioner of the state government to extend all possible assistance to the families of Kannadiga pilgrim victims.
The bus accident in Nakori in Uttarakhand claimed the lives of atleast 12 people and left 31 others injured.
The accident occured when the bus carrying passengers, including seven from Karnataka, fell into a gorge on its way to Rishkesh from Uttarkashi, official sources said.
