Bandh evokes partial response in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, July 3 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad's 'Bharat Bandh' call to protest revocation of land allotment to Sri Amarnath Shrine Board in Jammu and Kashmir evoked partial response in BJP-ruled Chhattisgarh today.
Official sources said shopkeepers downed their shutters in the state capital as the bandh supporters were seen requesting them to keep markets closed since morning.
Bandh also affected normal life in other towns- Durg, Jagdalpur, Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Kanker and Kawardha- from where reports of closure of shops and markets were also received.
However, train and bus services remained unaffected in the BJP-supported bandh, while educational institutions were also remained open in the state.
Elaborate security arrangements were made in the state in view of bandh and no untoward incident had been reported from any places till noon, police sources added.
