Indore, July 3 (UNI) Four people were killed and more than 23, including ten police personnel, injured in communal clashes here today between Vishva Hindu Parishad-sponsored Bharat Bandh supporters and those opposing the agitation over the Amarnath land allotment issue.
Curfew was clamped in four police station limits even as personnel opened fire and used other forms of force. Official sources said that stone-pelting hurt more than 23 people.
Half-a-dozen shops and as many vehicles were torched.
District Collector Rakesh Shrivastav and Superintendent of Police R K Chaudhry said that curfew was clamped in sensitive Pandrinath, Chhatripura, Khajrana and Malharganj. Two of the fatalities were caused by stabbing and another due to firing. The officer-duo claimed that the situation was under control and some people were arrested.
