17 swords seized from Margao
Panaji, Jul 3 (UNI) Police today seized 17 swords from an abandoned truck at Monte Hill area in Margao city, which has been returning to normal after experiencing communal riots last week.
Margao deputy superintendent of police Umesh Gaokar said the swords, packed in a bag, were found behind the driver's seat in the truck. Efforts were underway to identify the owner of the truck and the consignees of the deadly weapons.
The police acted on an alert by the state control room this morning.
Some of the swords were long as 23 inches and others 31 inches and were prohibited from possession under the law, he added.
