TN Govt asks oil companies to ensure adequate stock
Chennai, July 2 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today urged the oil companies to ensure adequate stock of ordinary petrol and diesel in their outlets for the benefit of public.
A direction towards this effect was given to the oil firms by Tamil Nadu Food Minister E V Velu at a review meeting with the representatives of oil companies.
Urging the oil companies to rush enough stock of petrol and diesel to various bunks, he said the companies are free to sell premium fuel brands if the people desire to purchase them.
''The oil companies should create an awareness among the public on the benefits of using premium brand petrol and diesel,'' he said, directing all petrol bunks, selling premium brands, to take steps to sell ordinary petrol and diesel also.
Mr Velu directed the companies to have 30 days stock of petroluem products and that all the bunks should maintain 30 per cent stock at any point of time, an official release said here.
Urging the oil companies to take steps to streamline the supply of petrol and diesel, he said the firms should also provide details of initial and end stock of the petrol and diesel to the Government.
He warned of stringent action against those hoarding petrol and diesel and selling them at higher rates.
