Mumbai, July 2 (UNI) Silver and gold today firmed with silver edging up by Rs 330 per kilogram to cross the 25k level and end at Rs 25,080, while standard gold finished Rs 15 higher at Rs 12,980 per ten gm, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association (BBA) said.
The precious metals soared as the price of crude oil was recorded at USD 142.18 per barrel, traders said.
The white metal resumed high and crossed the 25k level. It opened at Rs 25,265 per kg on encouraging advice from the global market. Later, it eased on sustained heavy selling pressure by stockists and closed at Rs 25,080, gaining Rs 330 per kg from its last close.
Among the yellow metals, standard mint and pure gold opened higher at Rs 13,130 and Rs 13,190 per ten gms respectively on better buying support from jewellery makers.
Later, standard mint gold and pure gold dropped to Rs 12,980 and Rs 13,040 respectively on overseas advice, traders said. Standard gold and pure gold registered a meagre gain of Rs 15 per ten gm each, from their previous finish.
In London and Asian markets also, gold was higher at USD 940.00/941.50 per troy ounce, against 931.00/931.50, the previous day, while the white metal was also quoted at USD 18.10/18.12 per troy ounce, compared to 17.68/17.69 per troy ounce from its last finish, traders said.
