Mumbai, Jul 2 (UNI) Even as the Maharashtra legislature is all set to start the Biometric system for the legislators and staff while entering there, the Shiv Sena-BJP members have opposed the same move.
In the Business Advisory Committee meeting held today, the opposition legislators said this system, under which they will have to register their thumb impression before entering the legislature, is not proper, as they are not coming there only for the sake of allowances and neither they are the criminals.
Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, speaker of the legislative assembly Babasaheb Kupekar said when opposition members raised the issue, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said both the system of signing and Biometric system will continue and the MLAs will have the option to follow one. However, the Chief Minister has also said the treasury bench members will have to follow the Biometric system.
Meanwhile, the poccedure from July 16 to July 24 was finalised, according to which, on the first day, condolence motion will be passed for Field Marshal Sam Maneckshaw, veteran Gandhian Nirmala Deshpande and veteran literateur Vijay Terndulkar.
