New Delhi, Jul 2 (UNI) Motor Accident Claims Tribunal judge Swarnakanta Sharma today granted a compensation of Rs 26 lakh to the family of two brothers who were mowed down by a blueline bus around one and a half years ago.
On December 1, 2006, D K Ahuja and Ram Chandra Ahuja were going to their Paharganj office from their residence in Shalimar Bagh on a scooter when a blueline bus, plying on route no 166, hit the scooter and both were crushed under the the bus.
The court, while granting the compensation, said, ''it is a deep anguish for me in granting compensation in these types of cases, where in a gross negligent manner, the blueline buses just to earn a few rupees, have no hesitation in taking the lives of innocent people.
''In the present case, it is evident that two buses were competing to overtake each other when the accident happened,'' she added.
National Issurance Company has been directed to make the payment of the compensation.
