Railways to open agriculture outlets at all stations: Lalu
Saharsa, Jul 2 (UNI) Railways will open agriculture outlets at all railway stations across the country to improve the economic conditions of the farmers.
After flagging off the Janki Express and Jansadharan Express from Saharsa railway station, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said as the farmers did not get suitable price for their produce, they were forced to sell perishable items at low prices due to lack of storage facility.
'' Railways is committed to investing Rs 52,000 Crores for laying new railway tracks and establishing factories to manufacture locos, wheels and other spare parts of the trains,'' Mr Prasad said adding that the work for laying the tracks between Bihariganj and Kursela stations would begin soon.
The Railway Minister lambasted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the state government's failure to provide land required for establishing the loco manufacturing unit at Madhepura. Despite several requests by the Railways it did not yield results and people of the area were forced to suffer as the proposed unit would provide employments to thousands of the locals, he added.
