Person accused in extortion case killed in encounter
Mumbai, Jul 2 (UNI) Mohammed Jamaal, the accused who allegedly had fired on cops on June 30 when trying to escape from them, was killed in an encounter by officials of Ghatkopar police station, near Shinde Udyan in eastern Mumbai here today.
Jamaal, a small time hoodlum was accused in an extortion case, who alongwith an associate Qaramuddin Shaikh had allegedly fired at a shop-owner in Asalpha, according to police officials from Ghatkopar police station. When they were arrested by the police, Jamaal opened fire from his gun and injured two officials, police said.
Jamaal was spotted today evening and when asked to surrender, tried to open fire but was killed in an encounter, police said.
