iGATE opens new facility in Chennai

{image-logo igate1_02072008.jpg www.oneindia.com}Chennai, July 2: iGATE, an Integrated Technology and Operations (iTOPS) company, today announced the expansion of its global delivery facility here.

In addition to the existing two facilities in Chennai of over one lakh sq ft, iGATE would add a new 1.16 lakh sq ft facility in the Special Economic Zone at DLF Info City, Nandambakkam, Company CEO Phaneesh Murthy told newspersons here. ''The first phase of the new facility will become operational in the last quarter of 2008. As part of the expansion,iGATE plans to hire about 500 employees in Chennai in the next 24 months which will grow its headcount in this city to over 1200 employees,'' he added.

Besides Chennai, iGATE has global delivery facilities in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Noida in India, Ballarat in Australia, Cyberjaya in Malaysia and Mississauga in Canada.

iGATE also announced the setting up of a Media and Entertainment Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the new facility to build frameworks and productivity enhancing solutions for its key clients in the field, including the Fortune 500 listed MGM Mirage.

"The global Media and Entertainment Industry is expected to be $1.8 trillion in 2010 and concepts like Web 2.0 and social networking are adding new dimensions to communication and collaboration.

"A key objective of the CoE is to assume a leadership role by providing cutting-edge technology solutions to clients in the Media and Entertainment Space," Chief Delivery Officer Sean Narayanan said.
