Srinagar, Jul 2 (UNI) Expressing his displeasure over the last nights celebrations after the Jammu and Kashmir cabinet cancelled the diversion of land to SASB order, chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani gave a Hazratbal chalo call on Friday to thank God for the victory.
He was also very critical of Pakistan government, print and electronic media for maintaining a silence over the land issue.
Bursting of crackers and doing other things to celebrate the cancellation of the land order cannot be appreciated in Islam, he told reporters here this afternoon.
He said, ''we should not do anything which is against the teachings of Islam.'' We achieved the victory only because of Allah and we should thank him, he said and asked people to reach Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad, on Friday.
He said besides Friday prayers, special thanks giving prayers would be held.
Mr Geelani said he and chairman of the other faction of the HC Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq will also address the Friday congregations.
He said besides offering fateha to those who were killed in police firing during these nine days, prayers will be held for early recovery of those injured during the brutal force used by police and CRPF against peaceful demonstrators.
He was very critical of Pak government, television channels and print media and said they did not mention about the protests and killings of innocent persons. This, he said, should open the eyes those who alleged that we are taking dictates from the Pakistan.
''We need not the help of Pakistan to carry out our freedom struggle,'' he declared.
