BSF busts fake currency racket

Aizawl, Jul 2 (UNI) Border Security Force intelligence busted a fake currency racket and apprehended six people at Nalabasti in Mizoram's Lawngtlai district yesterday, BSF sources said here today.

'' In a special operation, we have recovered fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 28,000 and arrested six people, '' sources added.

Through interrogation of the accused, the intelligence had also learnt that the network of racketeers was extended from Ruma Bazar of Bangladesh to Silchar in Assam.

Special teams had been sent to Silchar, sources stated.

While the kingpin Noor Jamal Laskar hailed from Silchar, the rest were residents of Jagnasuri village in Lawngtlai district.

The BSF, manning the Indo-Bangla border, had seized smuggled goods worth Rs 8,68,143, apprehended one smuggler and one militant along the border during the current year, sources claimed.
