Youth Congress march turns violent; several injured
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 1 (UNI) Scores of volunteers, including its Kerala unit President T Siddique and some police personnel were injured as the Youth Congress march to the State Assembly turned violent today.
The whole incident took place immediately after Youth Congress All India President inaugurated the march.
The police blocked the march, protesting against a government prescribed text book for seventh standard near the Assembly Complex.
In the meanwhile, the workers tried to surge ahead pushing the police cordon. The police resorted to caning the activists. They later used water cannons and burst tear gas shells to disperse the activists.
In the melee some Youth Congress and KSU workers and police personnel were injured.
