State to set up Sanskrit and Vedic University: Minister
Mysore, Jul 01(UNI) The state government has a proposal to set up Sanskrit and Vedic University in the state, Karnataka Higher Education Minister Aravind limbavali said here today.
Speaking to newspersons here the minister said that as many as 12 sanskrit colleges are in the state and all these colleges would be brought under the ambit of the proposed university.
Mr Limbavali said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa would make formal announcement about the establishment ot the University during his budget presentation in the coming assembly session.
The minister while stating that there is no any plans to announce new colleges in the state, additional funds has been sought from the state government to create necessary infrastructure facilities in those colleges which were started recently.
Replying to questions the minister said that government would appoint a search committee to suggest the name for the post of Vice Chancellor shortly for Mysore University. Once committee submitted its report, the post will be filled immediately, he said.
The minister also refuted the charge that BJP government in Karnataka was trying to saffronise the school education system by rewriting History syllabus. "There is no any such proposals before the state government as accused by the Congress leaders" he said.
