Jammu, Jul 1 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today staged a sit-in outside the Governor House demanding immediate dismissal of Ghulam Nabi Azad-led government which has been reduced to a minority in the state.

Hundreds of Panther's activists assembled outside Governor N N Vohra's residence and raised slogans against Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and demanded imposition of Governor's rule.

''The present government had no locus or constitutional right to continue in office even for a single day in view of its having lost the confidence of the Legislature,'' Prof. Bhim Singh, chairman JKNPP said while addressing the gathering.

''The constitutional stalemate in the state necessitated the immediate invocation of Section 92 of J &K Constitution, dismissal of Azad government and assumption of the functions of the government by the Governor,'' Prof. Singh said.

Meanwhile MLA and leader of the Panthers Legislature party in the House Harsh Dev Singh announced the resolve of the party to defeat the present government on the floor of the House in the event of confidence motion moved by Mr Azad.

''I condemn the Azad government for surrendering to the dictates of separatist and fundamentalist forces and it is my appeal to the people of the state to maintain communal amity to expose the nefarious designs of divisive forces who were out to vitiate peace in the region,'' Mr Harsh Dev asserted.
