Srinagar, Jul 1 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir cabinet today cancelled its earlier order by which forest land was diverted to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) for construction of pre-fabricated structures for Amarnath pilgrims.
The cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, met for about three hours to discuss the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and took the decision to revoke the transfer order.
The government Order number 184-FST of 2008 dated May 26,2008 vide which 39.88 hectares of forest land was diverted to SASB at Baltal and Domail is hereby cancelled, a release issued after the meeting said.
It said the cabinet took note of the recent correspondence between Governor N N Vohra, who is also SASB Chairman, and the Chief Minister on the issue of diversion of forest land falling under compartment No: 63a Sindh, in block Kullan, Range Sindh, Sindh Forest Division for raising pre-fabricated structures only for camping purposes of pilgrims, without going in for construction of permanent structures, at Baltal and Domail by the SASB.
