HC displeased over CBI probe
Kochi, Jul 1 (UNI) Kerala High Court today expressed displeasure over the CBI investigation into sister Abhaya case and said the probe into the matter should be completed expeditiously.
Justice V Ramkumar made these oral observations after the CBI filed an investigation progress-report in a sealed cover before the High Court today.
Investigating officer R K Aggarwal filed the report before Justice V Ramkumar.
He expressed displeasure over the conduct of the investigations by the CBI and said the investigation had become a never-ending process.
The judge also said the CBI was a prime investigating agency in the country and it had to maintain its credibility.
He directed the CBI to complete the investigation as early as possible.
The progress report was filed in accordance with a direction given by the court ten days ago following an interim application filed by sister Abhaya's father Thomas, seeking directions to the CBI to conduct the investigation properly.
The body of the 21-year-old nun was found in a well in St Pius X convent in Kottayam, on March 27, 1992. She was a member of St Joseph's congregation for women under the Catholic diocese of Kottayam. As per post-mortem report, she had been sexually assaulted before being killed.
