Deccan Skylimo helicopter services takes off from BIA
Bangalore, July 1 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said 'Deccan Skylimo', the new chartered helicopter service introduced by Deccan Aviation to the new airport from different locations in the City, was a boost to the infrastructure of the IT capital.
The service, using a Bell 206 Jet Ranger, would begin from BIA to Electronic City, Whitefield and HAL in the city from tomorrow.
Helicopter service to Palace Grounds will be added shortly.
Speaking at the launch of the service at Bengaluru International Airport, near Devanahalli about 40 km from here, the Chief Minister said that the helicopter service would help movement of VIPs and Corporate body heads.
''We welcome this new service as it would east traffic congestion on the bus Bellary National Highway and VIP movement would now become easy.'' Bangalore International Airport Ltd CEO Albert Brunner, speaking on the occasion said the service would help streamline the connectivity to the greenfield airport.
''The problems of connectivity raised in some quarters is now silenced with the state government taking up a the work on widening the NH seven connecting to the BIA. One more important thing that is very necessary for this airport is a rail link and I hope the government would do something early,'' he said.
