Congress workers against pre-poll alliance with NCP: Rau
Mumbai, Jul 1 (UNI) Congress workers in Maharashtra are against a pre-poll alliance with the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for the next Lok Sabha and assembly polls, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Prabha Rau has said.
Talking to reporters last evening on the occasion of completion of four years as the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president, Ms Rau said most Congress workers feel that there should be a post-poll alliance and not a pre-poll one.
Party workers, Ms Rau said, have confided in her that they feel demoralised if the Congress does not contest all the seats in an election.
''As the MPCC chief, it is my duty to submit this report to party president Sonia Gandhi, and the final decision has to be taken by her,'' Ms Rau said, adding Ms Gandhi's decision would be acceptable to all.
Asked about intra-party rivalry, Ms Rau said any one who joins politics, does so to rise high in the party. Intra-party rivalry, therefore, was quite normal and can be found in every party.
