Nagpur, July 1 (UNI) Unidentified burglars stole cash and jewellery worth about Rs 65 lakh from a branch of a cooperative credit society in Buldhana district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today.
According to police, the miscreants barged into a branch of Buldhana Urban Credit Cooperative Society in Motala, about 25 kms from Buldhana, early this morning.
The thieves managed to break open the locker and decamped with cash and valuables inside, they said.
The burglars made good with Rs 8.42 lakhs in cash and jewellery worth Rs 57 lakhs, kept in the locker, police said.
An offence has been registered under sections 357 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), but no arrests have been made so far, they added.
