Tirupati, July 1 (UNI) To meet the demand and sort out the signal trouble being faced by Cell One subscribers in the temple town and in Chittoor district, BSNL today said it will set up 80 more towers in the district.
BSNL Assistant General Manager Nageswara Rao told UNI that 80 more Cell One towers will be set up in the district, including Tirupati, which receives 70,000 pilgrims daily.
Mr Rao said the Cell One subscribers were facing signal problem during the peak hours from 1700 hours due to heavy congestion per tower and to overcome this, more towers would be erected in the next two months.
To get Cell One signals in closed buildings, inbuilt equipments are installed at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), which passes 1,500 calls daily.
He said the second equipment would shortly be installed at APDISCOM building in Tirupati.
To a question, he said the TTD has not granted permission so far to install the equipment in Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala, where major meetings are held, including TTD Trust's Board meetings and high-level meetings related to Tirumala.
Compared to Reliance Telecommunications, the BSNL is earning more revenue through Cell One in Rayalaseema including Chittoor district.
Mr Rao said Cell One adds about 500-600 new users every month and One lakh subscribers were added last year in the Tirupati region, which is the second highest after the state capital of Hyderabad in terms of subscribers.
