Tribals curb naxal growth in Chhattisgarh: CM
Pathalgaon, Chhattisgarh, Jun 30 (UNI) Showering praise on the primitive Pahadi Korva tribals residing in remote areas of the state, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said that they had curbed the naxalite violence in the region.
Addressing a public meeting during his 'Vikash Yatra' at Bagicha in Jashpur district here yesterday, Dr Singh said the tribals had managed to check the ultras using their traditional weapons -- bows and arrows.
Besides, the tribals also succeeded to drive out those who opposed development works and in protecting their glorious culture, he added.
The Chief Minister said the government was endeavouring to bring the tribals to society's mainstream by making them self-reliant.
He also laid foundation stone for various development works costing about Rs 29 crore.
