Sensex opens at flat note in mid-morning trade

Mumbai, Jun 30: Benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange was almost flat in the absence of buying interest in the opening trade following the cues in Asian market. Struggling near the previous close, Sensex was down 6.49 points at 13,793.20. However, it once slipped 87.5 point at a low of 13,714.72 in early trade, but soon recovered and was trading flat in the mid-morning trade. The broader-based S &P CNX Nifty index of National Stock Exchange was down by 7.85 points at 4,128.80.

Sectoral index on BSE were mixed, where as Mid-cap and Small-cap were under pressure. Realty and auto stocks were into deep red, while IT stocks were in positive zone., Realty stocks including Unitech, Indiabulls Real Estate and DLF were at the loss of two to three per cent in the early trade.

However, IT stocks Satyam Computer Services was up by 1.88 per cent to Rs 448.05, Infosys was up by 1.31 per cent to Rs 1,730, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro were at the gain of about one per cent.

Tata Motors was down by 3.58 per cent to Rs 432.15, HDFC declined 2.86 per cent to Rs 1,994, Grasim Industries down 2.08 per cent to Rs 1,904.10, ICICI Bank down 2.01 per cent to Rs 639.35 and Mahindra &Mahindra declined 1.68 per cent to Rs 500.05.
