Sadhus 'gherao' Raj Bhawan, bandh extended in Jammu
Jammu, June 30 (UNI) Over 50 sadhus today 'gheraoed' the Raj Bhawan here and shouted slogans against Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra on the transfer of land issue of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
Accompanied by the activists of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena, around fifty sadhus gathered outside the Raj Bhawan and shouted slogans against the Governor, PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, senior PDP leader M H Beig and separatist leaders.
''If the government will not transfer land to SASB, we will launch a massive nationwide protest as Amarnath Shrine has a religious value for us and we will not let it go,'' an agitating sadhu told UNI.
However, the protestors blocked the city roads, burnt tyres and effigies of Kashmiri leaders and state government amid slogans 'Governor Hai-Hai, Governor Go Back'.
Meanwhile, the BJP state unit supported by other Sangh parties, has extended call for bandh for two more days. Additional deployment of troops from the state police department and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been made within the city and its outskirts to keep check on the nefarious designs of 'anti-national' elements.
