PSEB lift All India Electricity Boards' basketball title

Hisar, Jun 30 (UNI) Last year's runners-up, Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) emerged champions by defeating Tamil Nadu State Electricity Board in the final of the 34th All India State Electricity Boards Basketball, Chess and Carom Championship which concluded here last evening.

The match for third place was played between hosts Haryana Power Sports Group and Bhakra Beas Management Board in which Haryana won 35-6.

In the final match of carom, Reliance beat Andhra Pradesh Transco 3-0. While in the match for third position in carom contests, TNEB outclassed Maha Discom 3-0.

The TNEB team of chess outscored AP Transco 15-14 in a tough contest. Gujrat Vidyut Vikas Nigam also scored 14 points but they had to be satisfied with third position as their progressive points were 39 against AP's 47.5.

The individual contest of carom was won by Narsingh of Reliance.

While, Suhas Pomendkar, Sanjay Kmabli and Pradeep Jadhav all from Reliance bagged 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in the individual contests of carom in the tournament.

Uday Karandikar of Relainace was adjudged 1st board winner in chess board winner competition. Suriya Prakash of Uttrakhand, GK Chotai and M Guhan were 2nd, 3rd and 4th board winner respectively.

DHBVN Managing Director and Haryana Power Sports Group president Vijayendra Kumar gave away trophies and prizes to the winning players in the concluding ceremony.

Around 39 teams comprising of about 350 players from different states participated in various disciplines of the tournament.
