Mumbai, Jun 30 (UNI) India's Engineering and Construction major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has received a letter of intent for Rs 1,557 crore to develop a steam turbine generator package for the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station in Andhra Pradesh.

With this order L&T has entered into the area of thermal power, employing supercritical technology and this would be the first order for supercritical 800 mw steam turbine generator island (including auxiliaries) in the country, L&T said in a statement to stock exchanges.

The steam turbine generators for the project will be supplied by L&T-MHI Turbine Generator, a joint venture company set up by L&T and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Japan. The JV was formalised in November 2007. L&T-MHI are in the process of setting up manufacturing facility in Hazaria, Gujarat, L&T added.
