Jallander youth drowned at Kangra

Kangra, Jun 30 (UNI) A 24 year-youth a resident of Jallander city was washed away and feared dead in Banner Khud in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh today, police sources said.

Kangra District Police Chief Dr. Atul Fulzale today said the youth was identified as Deepak Sharma of Jallunder city.

A group of six youths on three motorbikes from Jallander city had enjoyed two day stay at Bagsunag and Dharamskot near Dharamshala and they were on way back to Jallunder.

The SP said on way back the six friends had some drinks in the outskirts of this temple town on the bank of Banner Khad and started having a bath in the Banner khad.

Deepak moved towards the fast currents of the waters of the river despite warnings by some locals and his friends and he was washed away in the fast flowing water of the river Banner, he said.

He said the body could not be recovered till filing of this report, however, a police party headed by SHO Kangra Surender Sharma and DSP O.P.Jamwal with the help of the local divers were trying to trace out the body at Sagam of Banner and Manjee rivers.
