Mysore, Jun 30 (UNI) Hundreds of farmers of Hunsur taluk in the District staged rasta roko for more than four hours affecting vehicular movment on Mysore-Mangalore state highway in protest against the non-availability of the fertilisers.
The agitating members of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha(KRRS) putup boulders on the roads at both the ends thus preventing vehicles from entering the taluk, demanding immedidate supply of fertilisers.
Deputy Commssioner P Manivannan, who rushed to the spot, assured the farmers of supplying fertilisers immediately. "The delay was non-arrival of 28 tonnes of fertilisers sent from Mangalore yesterday and it would reach this evening and same would be disttributed", he added.
Following the assurance, farmers withdrew their agitation with a warning that agitation would be intensified if there was any further delay.
